I’m so lonesome I could cry … oder das traurigste Lied, das Elvis jemals gesungen hat
Meiner Meinung nach sollte bei dieser Sammlung an herzergreifenden Klassikern vom King auf keinen Fall das Lied "And the Gras won´t pay no Mind" fehlen!
- Mein persönlicher Liebling
Weiterhin hat die gesamte `69er Session eine Menge trauriger und gefühlvoller Hits hervorgebracht: True Love travels on a Gravel Road, You´ll think of Me, I´ll be there, Suspicous Minds... und natürlich das politische aber dennoch sehr rührende In the Ghetto.
Hinweis in eigener Sache:
wenn du glaubst, dass ich mich dir gegenüber wie ein Arschloch verhalte, kannst du ziemlich sicher sein, dass du es verdient hast
You may not mind that it's over But I've a different point of view Even though I am shattered It's easy for you
You don't have to face the music You don't have to face the crowd Just go back where you came from You ain't even proud
I had a wife and I had children I threw them all away And now you tell me, you dare to tell me I should go back to them What do you think I should say
I found it hard to leave them Saddest thing I ever had to do My problems haven't started And it's easy for you
I had a wife and I had children I threw them all away And now you tell me, you dare to tell me I should go back to them What do you think, what on earth do you think I should say
If you ever tire of the good life Call me in a year or two I've got no choice, I'll forgive you 'Cause it's easy for you
You only have to call me, it's easy for you You only have to call me, it's easy for you

Denkt mal darüber nach!
*and the grass won´t pay no mind* hab ich zwar als sehr gefühlvollen, aber dennoch positiven Song in Erinnerung
..you can hear god calling walking barefoot by a stream..
..my lips touch you.. in my face as in a dream..
and the time will be our time.. and the grass won´t pay no mind..
und wenn du schon die Memphis sessions erwähnst, dann bitte doch auch die wirklich berührenden Titel wie *Mama liked the roses*, *Don´t cry daddy* und das wunderschöne *Who am I*; nicht zu vergessen *Do you know who I am* und *This is the story* :traurig:

There's a long line of mourners
Drivin' down our little street
Their fancy cars are such a sight to see, oh yeah
There are all of your rich friends
Who knew you in the city
And now the finally brought, brought you home to me
When you left home you know you told me
That someday you'd be returnin'
In a fancy car for all the town to see, oh yeah
Well, now everyone is watchin' you
You finally had your dream
Yeah, your're ridin' in a long black limousine
The papers told of how you lost your life
The party, the party and the fatal crash that night
The race upon the Highway
Oh, the curve you didn't see
Well, you're ridin' in that long black limousine
Throught tear filled eyes I watch as you ride by
The chauffeur, the chauffeur at the wheel
dressed up so fine
Well, I'll never love another
All my heart all my dreams are with you
In that long black limousine
Yeah, are with you in that long black limousine.
I remember how your eyes used to light up
Over promises that I made
But for the first time in my life
I know now how it feels to be afraid
I don't know what I’d do if you go away
This would sure be one lonely old town
For a man's so busy going up in the world
That he couldn't see love coming down
Love coming down
I remember all the times you told me
Love's all that matters to you
And looking back now, wondering how I believed
I had things more important to do
I can see how I must have looked to you
Like some fool on a merry-go-round
And that a man's so busy going up in the world
That he couldn't see love going down
Love going down
Can't you see how everything I’ve learned
Would just be wasted if you leave me
If you just give one more try
I swear I’ll always be here when you need me
If you can find it in your heart to forgive me
I'll try to keep both my feet on the ground
But if a man's so busy going up in the world
That he couldn't see love coming down
Love coming down
03. I'll Never Fall In Love Again
I've been in love so many times
I thought I knew the score
Now you've treated me so wrong
I can't take any more
And it looks like I’m never gonna fall in love again Fall in love, I’m never gonna fall in love I mean it, I mean it, fall in love again
I gave my heart so easily, cast aside my pride
When I saw you in his arms baby
I broke up and cried
And it looks like I’m never gonna fall in love again
That's what I'm sayin' Fall in love, No, I’m never gonna fall in love
Please don't make me fall in love again
That's why I, no, I’m never gonna fall in love
Please don't make me, don't make me, fall in love again
Auch zwei schwermütige, traurige Lieder. Vorallem die markierte Textstelle...auch das mag man Elvis als fast persönliches Statement abnehmen...
