Cooler, sehr cooler Sommerhit. Ich erinnere mich, dass ich ihn zum ersten Mal auf dem gerne übersehenen und doch unglaublich interessanten "Pseudo"-LP ("Was wäre wenn damals ...") For The Asking - The Lost Album (gibt eine kleine Review dazu von mir bei Amazon.de). Du hast recht, das Teil klingt einfach nach Sommer ...

Nachdem ich mir - viel zu spät (Schande über mich) - unlängst George Harrisons "Must-Have"-Album All Things Must Pass zugelegt habe, ist mein Sommerhit momentan wohl My Sweet Lord. Dazu der eine oder andere Titel von der Beatles Anthology 1, hauptsächlich wohl Besame Mucho (was für ein Song!). Dazu Ain't She Sweet sowie Three Cool Cats, Dinger, die einem einfach nicht mehr aus dem Ohr gehen. Ich denke, irgendwann werde ich diesen Sommer hier mit diesen Songs verbinden, so wie für mich 2003 schlicht der Fun In Acapulco-Sommer war.

Bis auf fast alle Pepperlieder und einiges Komisches ab "Revolver" höre ich

die Beatles ansonsten komplett. Inklusive der 3 Anthology-Doppelalben.

Inklusive oder exklusive Revolver, das ich für außerordentlich gut gelungen halte? Okay, nicht gerade eine Luxus-Meinung, aber ich muss sagen, dass es eigentlich fast mein Lieblingsalbum der Beatles ist. Neben The Beatles.

Wenn "Überbewertung" dagegen einen Namen hätte, dann wäre der m. E. wohl "Sgt. Pepper" ...

Ich habe alle Alben schon wegen Paul, der ja immer mitsingt.

Aber einige Lennondinger auf "Revolver" und so sind schon heftig.

THE BEATLES hätte man auf ein Album runterschneiden können,

Der populärste Einwand der Rock- und Popgeschichte! Erwähne irgendwo das weiße Album, und es dauert keine drei Minuten, bis jemand mit dem Thema ankommt. Weiß nicht, wie oft mir das (alleine) in letzter Zeit begegnet ist.

Möglicherweise hast du Recht. Ich sehe es nicht so. Ich nehme jedes Album als in sich geschlossenes Kunstwerk, das mir genau so präsentiert wurde vom Künslter / von den Künstlern und das ich so anzunehmen habe. "Füller" ist ein Fremdwort für mich. Aber ich kann zumindest nachvollziehen, was du meinst. Allerdings bin ich zu wenig Beatles-Experte, um es wirklich verstehen zu können.

Eins muss man mal sagen (auch mit Hinblick auf das von mir erwähnte Besame Mucho der Beatles):

You Can't Say No In Acapulco ist schon ein Song mit einem gewaltigen Sommerhit-Potential, oder?

Schon der Hammer. Diese Zeilen "Where lovers sing instead of talk / And dance instead of walk together" hat (abgesehen vom Rhythmus, den Background-Stimmen) schon totales Suchtpotential. Ergänzt von den zwei folgenden Zeilen "In a night, that's filled with stars / And strumming guitars" und der suggestiven Aufforderung "Don't say no, You can't say no in Acapulco ..."

Was für ein Sommerhit! Morgen erst einmal den dazugehörigen Film ansehen!
