James Burton will be the first musician ever to be inducted in the Fender Hall of Fame. The Fender Hall of Fame was created to honor and keep the memories alive of FMIC innovators and former leaders fresh in the minds of FMIC employees, to inspire those who follow in their footsteps, and to differentiate Fender from all others.

“It’s important that we pay tribute to the individuals who—through their creativity, genius and dedication–designed and built the instruments and company that changed the way the world experiences music,” said Bill Mendello, chief executive officer and president of the board for FMIC last year. “Because of their efforts, Fender enjoys the rich history and legacy that we so cherish today.” The inaugural class includes: Clarence “Leo” Fender, Charlie Hayes, Donald D. Randall, William C. “Bill” Schultz, Freddie Tavares and Forrest White.

This new induction is proof again of the historic roll James Burton played for Fender and modern music in general. ElvisMatters would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our dear friend from Shreveport, Louisiana for this new milestone in his exceptional career.
