Soon, another part of the Elvis History will be gone.

Already 2 weeks ago, it was known that the Sahara will not close down.

Below a newsreport from May 6th:

Tropicana Entertainment is turning over management of the Horizon Casino Resort at Lake Tahoe, a move that will eliminate table games and possibly reduce slot machine operations.

The Las Vegas-based Tropicana in a statement says the about 75 table games and support positions will be terminated.

In the next 30 days, Lake Tahoe Realty I, a new company owned by an affiliate of Columbia Sussex Corp., will take over management of the Horizon Hotel and will assume responsibility for employees, staffing levels and associated payrolls.

Casino operations will be limited to no more than 200 gaming positions. Tropicana Entertainment will continue to operate the casino on a limited basis under a lease with The Edgewood Companies until Lake Tahoe Realty I has been licensed by the Nevada Gaming Commission

More good news, the new lease will not expire before 2011.
So, the former Sahara will exist for at least 2 more years.
