Zitat:

01. Kentucky Rain Seven lonely days And a dozen towns ago I reached out one night And you were gone Don't know why you'd run, What you're running to or from All I know is I want to bring you home So I'm walking in the rain, Thumbing for a ride On this lonely Kentucky backroad I've loved you much too long And my love's too strong To let you go, never knowing What went wrong Kentucky rain keeps pouring down And up ahead's another town That I'll go walking thru With the rain in my shoes, Searchin for you In the cold Kentucky rain, In the cold Kentucky rain Showed your photograph To some old gray bearded man Sitting on a bench Outside a gen'ral store They said "Yes, she's been here" But their memory wasn't clear Was it yesterday, No, wait the day before So I fin'ly got a ride With a preacher man who asked "Where you bound on such a dark afternoon?" As we drove on thru the rain As he listened I explained And he left me with a prayer That I'd find you 02. Love Coming Down I remember how your eyes used to light up Over promises that I made But for the first time in my life I know now how it feels to be afraid I don't know what I’d do if you go away This would sure be one lonely old town For a man's so busy going up in the world That he couldn't see love coming down Love coming down I remember all the times you told me Love's all that matters to you And looking back now, wondering how I believed I had things more important to do I can see how I must have looked to you Like some fool on a merry-go-round And that a man's so busy going up in the world That he couldn't see love going down Love going down Can't you see how everything I’ve learned Would just be wasted if you leave me If you just give one more try I swear I’ll always be here when you need me If you can find it in your heart to forgive me I'll try to keep both my feet on the ground But if a man's so busy going up in the world That he couldn't see love coming down Love coming down 03. I'll Never Fall In Love Again I've been in love so many times I thought I knew the score Now you've treated me so wrong I can't take any more And it looks like I’m never gonna fall in love again Fall in love, I’m never gonna fall in love I mean it, I mean it, fall in love again I gave my heart so easily, cast aside my pride When I saw you in his arms baby I broke up and cried And it looks like I’m never gonna fall in love again That's what I'm sayin' Fall in love, No, I’m never gonna fall in love Please don't make me fall in love again That's why I, no, I’m never gonna fall in love Please don't make me, don't make me, fall in love again 04. Separate Ways I see a change is coming to our lives It's not the same as it used to be And it's not too late to realise our mistake We're just not right for each other Love has slipped away left us only friends We almost seem like strangers All that's left between us are the memories we shared Of times we thought we cared for each other There's nothing left to do but go our separate ways And pick up all the pieces left behind us And maybe someday, somewhere along the way Another love will find us Some day when she's older, maybe she will understand Why her mom and dad are not together The tears that she will cry when I have to say goodbye Will tear at my heart forever There's nothing left to do but go our separate ways And pick up all the pieces left behind us And maybe someday, somewhere along the way Another love will find us 05. When I'm Over You When I'm over you there'll be darkness where my soul has been And no light will ever shine again when I'm o-over you When you're leavin' is over and there's not another tear to cry In the silence of that last goodbye just remember, remember this When I'm over you there'll be darkness where my soul has been And no light will ever shine again when I'm over, over you. Ooh-ooh-ooh When I'm over you there'll be darkness, darkness where my soul has been And no light will ever shine again when I'm over, over you. When I'm over you there'll be darkness where my soul has been And no light will ever shine again when I'm over, over you. When I'm over you there'll be darkness, darkness, darkness where my soul has been And no light will ever, ever shine again when I'm over you. |

Da sind die Tränen nicht weit...
Meiner Meinung nach sollte bei dieser Sammlung an herzergreifenden Klassikern vom King auf keinen Fall das Lied "And the Gras won´t pay no Mind" fehlen!
- Mein persönlicher Liebling Weiterhin hat die gesamte `69er Session eine Menge trauriger und gefühlvoller Hits hervorgebracht: True Love travels on a Gravel Road, You´ll think of Me, I´ll be there, Suspicous Minds... und natürlich das politische aber dennoch sehr rührende In the Ghetto. Denkt mal darüber nach! |

Zitat:
Sehr schade eigentlich, der Song wäre selbst als Publikumsmitschnitt der absolute Hammer... |

Zitat:
Auch eine sehr berührende Nummer, die er ebenfalls nur ein einziges Mal live gesungen hat

mir fällt auf anhieb "it´s easy for you" ein....
You may not mind that it's over But I've a different point of view Even though I am shattered It's easy for you You don't have to face the music You don't have to face the crowd Just go back where you came from You ain't even proud I had a wife and I had children I threw them all away And now you tell me, you dare to tell me I should go back to them What do you think I should say I found it hard to leave them Saddest thing I ever had to do My problems haven't started And it's easy for you I had a wife and I had children I threw them all away And now you tell me, you dare to tell me I should go back to them What do you think, what on earth do you think I should say If you ever tire of the good life Call me in a year or two I've got no choice, I'll forgive you 'Cause it's easy for you You only have to call me, it's easy for you You only have to call me, it's easy for you :traurig: |

Zitat:
..you can hear god calling walking barefoot by a stream.. ..my lips touch you.. in my face as in a dream.. and the time will be our time.. and the grass won´t pay no mind.. und wenn du schon die Memphis sessions erwähnst, dann bitte doch auch die wirklich berührenden Titel wie *Mama liked the roses*, *Don´t cry daddy* und das wunderschöne *Who am I*; nicht zu vergessen *Do you know who I am* und *This is the story* :traurig:
