New Frontier Hotel to be demolished, according to rumours
The Frontier Hotel, where Elvis made his Las Vegas debut in 1956, may soon disappear from the Las Vegas Strip. Real Estate Investment Group Elad Properties are rumoured to be making an announcement any time about their purchase of the hotel. The current owner Phil Ruffin has previously turned down offers of $20 million on the site, but this new deal is rumoured as being up to $1.5 billion.
In 1942, the Hotel Last Frontier was the second hotel to open on the Las Vegas Strip. In April 1955 it was remodelled and renamed the New Frontier with a space age décor that reflected the atomic era of the fifties and, the following year, Elvis made his debut there billed as "The Atomic Powered Singer".
