Elvis Memorabilia Up for Auction Online

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- If you've got the bucks, you can own the outfit Elvis Presley wore during his only New York City performance in 1972.

    Juliet Papa reports

His blue and gold jumpsuit and cape are up for auction today and are expected to fetch $150,000.

The auction takes place online at http://www.gottahaverockandroll.com/Catalog.aspx

The King wore the ensemble on June 10, 1972 when he performed at Madison Square Garden.

Other items up for auction include a white grand piano that Elvis played at Graceland which is expected to bring in $1 million, and a 7th degree black belt karate cord complete with Elivs's signature that is worth about $10,000.

Where does the Madison Square Garden jumpsuit come from? This question was asked several times after the announcement that the famous blue/gold suit that was used during the legendary New York concerts is part of a large auction. After the concert, Elvis gave the jumpsuit to legendary songwriter Joyce (Dottie) Rambo, for her birthday. Dottie was known as ‘The Queen of Gospel Music’ so it is no surprise that Elvis respected her. She composed the song 'If That Isn't Love' , recorded by Elvis on his 1973 album 'Good Times'. She put the suit away and it wasn't seen again until her daughter discovered it after the 74-year-old Rambo was killed in a tour bus accident last year. The jumpsuit is expected to fetch more than $150,000

The eyes of Elvis fans all over the world where focused on the more than 500 lots, from vinyl albums to personal items and apparel that belonged to Elvis. The auction house Heritage held a similar auction a few weeks ago, with disappointing results, although there were a few hot Elvis items included in the auction. Highlights in this auction where the blue/gold jumpsuit from the Madison Square Garden concert, the white grand piano that once stood in the music room in Graceland and a combination of a black pants and shirt that Elvis use in his free time. The auction ended last night with a result that was a lot better than the Heritage auction. Many items were sold for a price that was much higher than the estimated values.
