National Enquirer Elvis Photo Shredded
The famous photo of Elvis in his coffin which was taken in 1977 has been shredded in 2004 according to the latest court proceedings between the owner of the building and the company hired to decontaminate the building after a letter containing Anthrax was sent to the headquarters and caused the newspaper to have to evacuate the premises.
Both sides have been fighting over the photo. One company in the case is accused of blackmailing the property owner for more money in exchange for the photo valued at one million dollars. The newspaper paid one of Elvis' cousins 18,000 to take the photo which appeared on the cover. That issue sold more than 6.5 million copies in 1977.
