Ah, this is a nice morning. The sun is shining, I'm drinking a good cup of coffee, and Southern Comfort has just announced not one, not two, not three, but FOUR new CDs! And I don't know about you but I for one am fixing to get them all.
I found these titles on the excellent elvisinfonet.com site:
1. The Request Box Shows. I guess we all know these recordings, yeah? I have some of them on an old vinyl bootleg I bought a few years ago (in fact it was the first bootleg I ever bought). This new release will be a 2CD set with a 16 page booklet. The material will be remastered from the original tapes, and we'll get some brand new material on there, too. Cool!
2. High Voltage. This is it! I personally can't wait for this one: a 2CD set which will include the opening show and the closing show from Elvis's second Las Vegas season. 16 page booklet... beautiful artwork... mastered from the original reel-to-reel recordings... and Elvis on FIRE! Sounds pretty good to me! :D
3. Birmingam '76. This classic show will get an upgrade, too. Apparantly Southern Comfort has found the original master tape, and this new version will obviously sound much better than the old one.
4. And look out for the next release in the highly successful American Way series in early June!
Well that's it! The only thing I don't like about this stuff is that we'll have to wait for it... There is no release date for the Birmingham show but "High Voltage" and the request box shows are coming out in the autumn / winter.
